Post-Graduate Diploma Programme With Universities (PGD)
This is a one year postgraduate diploma programme in Power System Operations and Maintenance that NAPTIN is collaborating with some Engineering Faculties of some universities in Nigeria to deliver. The PGD programme is designed essentially to fortify and compliment the NGSDP. The programme has six areas of specialization: power system protection & metering; generator maintenance (mechanical); generator maintenance (electrical); transmission network maintenance; distribution network maintenance; and system operation & control. The design of this programme will particularly suit those who are already in employment in the power industry and would want to go into some specialization. The programme emphasizes the importance of the practical experience in the field. This emphasis is depicted in the unit allocation of the programme that is skewed towards the industrial placement units to produce industry ready engineers. A pilot study is being planned to take off at the University of Lagos.
